The vines stretch high and spread out across the brick siding of my neighbors house. The birds create masterworks with their tweeting sounds. As the sun begins to descend from the sky and the world goes dark again, I reflect on the beauty that is spring.
Spring, a season of new life. It is fitting that we celebrate Easter during this time. We are reminded of our new life in Christ. Our salvation is a one time gift of life, but our sanctification is a continuous gift of new life each day. We have countless opportunities in the mundane to choose to live out our new lives in Christ. His Spirit gives us interactions with strangers, conversations with co-workers, and ways out of temptation. We are pressed on every side from the attacks of the enemy to live out death. However, by the Holy Spirit and God’s Word, we can live out life.
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:4 NIV
Next time we see a flower blooming or hear the sound sounds of nature, may we be reminded to bring the truth of God’s Word into our every day. That is what makes today and this season extraordinary, because of Jesus’ gift. He is the Life-giver! May we be inspired by the evidence of nature to celebrate our new lives in Him.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17 CSB
