Palm Branches

I saw a palm upon the ground, with dirt on every feature

I picked it up and brushed it off, in the glory of it’s nature

A symbol of victory, a banner of peace, the award of all mankind

A view of triumph, and eternal life within this hand of mine.

And then, behold the Son of God came riding on a donkey

So overwhelmed, we laid our cloaks and lifted high our palm leaves

As He rode by, the King of Kings, our eyes were not the driest

As tears flowed down, we shared a shout Hosanna! In the Highest!

We did not know His life would end, so soon upon the cross

That three days later, He would rise and wouldn’t have a loss

Salvation came and every year, palm branches come out again

To remind His people of the victory, and their eternal salvation.
